Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Urbana, Illinois 61801 (Central Illinois nursing jobs)
  
• Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Stepdown Unit
  
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (10/6/2025 – 1/3/2026)
  
• Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  
• Hours per Week: 36 (3x12 hour shifts)
  
• Employment Type: Travel RN contract
  
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2040-$2100
  

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing
  
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  
• Minimum 1 year of recent cardiac stepdown or acute care nursing experience
  
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  
• Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  
• Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, email, web browser)
  
• Demonstrated multicultural sensitivity and strong critical thinking skills
  

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients using the nursing process
  
• Perform unit-specific duties and adhere to clinical protocols for cardiac care
  
• Implement cardiac stepdown procedures and evidence-based best practices
  
• Conduct initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
  
• Accurately document nursing care and maintain up-to-date patient records
  
• Assess IV sites every 4 hours and initiate IVs per hospital policy
  
• Monitor and identify changes in patient status, responding promptly and appropriately
  
• Participate in staff meetings and ongoing departmental training
  
• Promote patient and staff safety by reporting and correcting hazards
  
• Collaborate with healthcare colleagues and contribute to professional development
