Job Description

We are one of the fastest growing toy and collectibles company, and we are looking to expand our design team by adding on an additional talented Toy Designer. To be successful in this position, you must be disciplined and self-motivated, provide excellent creative ideas in line with current trends, show significant attention to detail, and work well with a dynamic team.

This role is based in Los Angeles and is a hybrid position with three days onsite in the office.

POSITION: TOY DESIGNER

We seek a talented and exceptional individual to join our team as Toy Designer. This high-powered senior designer will design plastic toy products and will be able to run the product design process from concept through production. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Hands-on design and development of products and collections of products in a wide range of toys and collectibles categories from concept to production

• Develop accurate 2D and 3D product specifications and designs, with orientation to meet target costing while delivering against brand, safety, and manufacturing needs and expectations

• Project manage design and development of products from concept to production, prioritizing multiple products and projects at any given time while efficiently delivering milestones, on-time

• Present products and product lines to executives and other stakeholders internally across the organization; take direction and feedback from stakeholders and execute against directives

• Review and provide comments on manufacturing drawings, CADs, and vendor prototypes and samples

• Communicate extensively throughout the design process with internal and external resources, including designers, product development and engineering personnel, and vendor/factory partners

• Identify core market comps for brands and lines and conduct basic market research

• Strong organizational skills

• Excellent ideation and conceptual skills

• High-energy, motivated to take ownership and deliver good work for its own sake

• No-drama collaborator that contributes and takes accountability within a team environment

• Able to work effectively with limited direction and zero micromanagement

• Significant professional working experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite

• Substantial experience in plastic design, packaging, retail POP displays, etc.

• Experience collaborating with international teams and communicating across multiple time-zones

• Experience communicating with overseas factories for product development

• Strong visual, analytical, and creative eye/aesthetic

• Extremely organized, particularly with digital file and record-keeping

• Photography for submission sheets, commentary, overlays for factories and partners

• Communicate with partners and brand owners surrounding design and development

• Manage product development timelines, milestones, and deliverable dates

• Daily communication with internal and external teams regarding product development and project management statuses

• Assist in designing packaging, including graphic layout, and basic die-line construction

• Maintain the visual aesthetics of internal and external brands

• Other hands-on design duties as may be required to create and produce products

• Full-time workload (minimum 40 hours per week)

• 5+ years of toy design experience
